About
Red Birds are a three piece Alternative Folk band from Elkton, MD. Singer-songwriter & bassist, Zoë August is joined by her husband, Dan August on guitars, and long time friend, Sam Williamson on drums & occasional keys. The trio's varying influences meet somewhere between 90s Indie Rock and Appalachian Folk. While their working class tunes about loss, love, and coping put Red Birds firmly in the house that Patsy Cline and Hazel Dickens built, they also find comfort in the company of Elliot Smith, Ida, and Jason Molina. Following their 2023 self recorded full length "Tell Me Lies", Red Birds teamed with Chad Istvan of Boy Sets Fire at his home studio Signal to Noise in Elkton, MD to record their newest full length "Things we thought we were done with". Like their previous releases, the band self released this latest album on their own Doesn't Matter Who Records, with the added bonus of having it mastered by Phil Nicolo and pressed to vinyl at Studio 4 Vinyl in Coatesville, PA. Red Birds have since continued to write and perform locally around the Delaware and Philly area, keeping their shows welcoming and warm, and working with other folks who support the local music and art community.
